My father has worked at the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey (UMDNJ) in Newark for over 20 years. I worked in medical in Assisted Living for over 20 years as well, before coming to Veritext. My mother is a retired RN. So, as you can see, my family is a medical family.

My father manages a staff of nurses and has been tasked with reassigning them where they are needed. Just recently, he has jumped on the front line to help alongside his nurses. I have worked with hundreds of essential employees over the years who are now on the front line risking their lives to save others. Some of them work with strangers and some of them work with our elderly population.

As a birthday promotion, Facebook recommended I raise money for a cause of my choice on their platform. That spurred the idea to create my own COVID-19 fundraiser: “COVID-19 — help for our front line”.

The cause is to create and deliver care packages for hospitals and health care facilities. The care packages will send the staff much-needed supplies, energy snacks and cards to keep their spirits going and show them we support, appreciate, and are grateful for them and their hard work.

So far I have been able to create and send:

• 2 snack care packages to UMDNJ
• 1 care package to Morristown Memorial Hospital
• 1 care package to Brandywine Senior Living in Mahwah
• 1/care package to Brandywine Senior Living in Bridgewater
• 1 care package to Brighton Gardens of Florham Park Senior Living
• 1 care package to Holly Manor Rehab
• 2 trays of sandwiches and wraps from Calabria’s to UMDNJ (for ER and Radiology Staff)
• And 3 Pampered Chef Make and Take sets for 3 Doctors

My dad has always been my hero. These past few weeks he has shown he always was really my super hero.
